First Traffic Accident…

The first week after my husband traveled to Asia for work, I had a little accident.

I was about to pick up my kid at school, and before turning to school I realize the road (Woodland Ave) was under construction and I couldn’t go through. So instead I had to turn in to Hawthorne Place and park somewhere there. There’re many cars parked along the road, likely because of the construction work as well and I found one spot to park. But to make a parallel parking, I turned a bit into the Shadyside Ave and started to turn, as I was under a pressure to turn in to avoid potential traffic, I didn’t check carefully behind and hit a car.

Immediately I stopped and called the police… The police gave me an improper backing ticket plus a fine…

I’d like to appear for not guilty because it was really caused by the construction work happening on the day. Unfortunately I was not able to take a picture of the construction site on the day as I didn’t know that I would need to go to court and prove it, but I found a FB post from Summit proving that on the same day, this time slot, construction was happening on the woodland Ave.

I was new in Summit as we just moved here a few months ago. I guess because I was not familiar with the road that also caused me to panic a bit. Next time I would research on GPS and find a better spot.

When I stopped I immediately call the police to call the driver of the parked car, even though nobody saw me had that incident, which showed that I’m a sincere and responsible driver.

I would appreciate if Judge could give me a chance to plea for not guilty…
